Spring has sprung… Easter is almost here… and the sound of spring peepers will soon be heard far and wide. But wait — what’s that other sound? That joyous, raspy, ridiculous noise infiltrating into our collective consciousness, intermingling with the more typical sounds of nature?
Well, friends, it’s none other than the onset of a nostalgic device more commonly attributed to kids play, but which has also attracted a significant adult following in recent years — the lowly kazoo!
Yes, indeed, this sweet cacophony of semi-harmonious tones, which some celebrate as a return to more primitive musical times, is a phenomenon that has reemerged into public consciousness and even achieved a dubious status through its adoption by major star performers like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and others. And, fittingly, it is the subject of our latest podcast at A Look Behind in Rewind — you can hear “Kazoobie Doobie Doo,” a short, 9-minute piece, at https://alookbehindinrewind.buzzsprout.com , Apple, Pandora, Stitcher, or wherever you get your podcasts.
We also created a brief video tour of the Kazoobie Kazoos museum and factory in Beaufort, SC, which you can watch on YouTube at bit.ly/kazoovideo — a great family adventure for one and all!
